We're bummed to leave...
When we moved here we knew no one. We simply looked for homes on the north side of Indianapolis. We searched for homes from Avon to Zionsville, Carmel and Fishers. On our last day of our house hunting weekend we found this home.
We bought the house, to be truthful. We think it's beautiful and hope that you do too. But the best part hasn't even been the house. The best part is the neighborhood!
A bit about our home
The house is two and a half years old. We bought it new but had a number of upgrades done. In the kitchen, we upgraded the lighting and the appliances. They are the gourmet line appliances from Kitchenaid. We added a chop sink to the island and decorative beadboard to make the island look even better. We added the ever-important garbage drawer so there's no garbage can hanging out in the open. The kitchen has a large walk-in pantry with full wood shelves.
The kitchen opens to the family room with large windows, a gas fireplace and built in bookshelves. The family room has a vaulted ceiling that opens up room.
To the other side of the kitchen is the dining room. Decorative chair rails surround the dining room which opens into a living room/parlor. There is hardwood throughout these two rooms.
The chair rail is also found in the spacious study accessed though beautiful french doors.
You can access the upstairs through one of two staircases. This is a great feature since the kids usually use the back stairs to get to their rooms.

Two of the other bedrooms have walk-in closets as well, and are joined by a jack-and-jill bathroom.
The fourth bedroom is spacious as well and features a private bathroom and another large walk-in closet.
Up another half flight of stairs is the bonus room and laundry room. The bonus room could be turned into a fifth bedroom if needed. The best part is the upstairs laundry room. When looking for houses we never thought about having it upstairs. 95% of the laundry is generated in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Imagine not hauling laundry up and down the stairs! No unsightly laundry when visitors stop by.
Finally, the most fun part of the house: the basement! With a fifth bathroom, the basement is fully finished and has a ton of space. Full windows offer natural light to a pool table area. We put in a full wet bar with wine refrigerator, microwave and sink with disposal that makes entertaining a blast. The black trim gives the basement an intimate feel.
Our neighbors
Strongbow Gate is a small neighborhood (for now). Nearly everyone here is a transplant from somewhere else in the country. That has created a unique dynamic: we have become good friends with our neighbors. We're like extended family. Most of us are the "hang out on the back patio and BBQ" types, and we're always hosting each others kids over to play. Jennifer likes to say when she comes home she can find anywhere from 0 to 6 kids in our house depending on the day.
Our friends have made a demand
Our neighbors who have become our dear friends have made one request of us: We must find cool people to buy our house. They love the comradarie we have and I promised they'll have neighbors better than us! I think you'll fit the bill!
Think of the children
There are 8 occupied homes in Strongbow Gate. Out of those homes, there are 13 boys and 4 girls ranging from 18 years to 18 mos. Do you have kids? Strongbow Gate is bound to have someone your kids can play with.
One of the best parts about our neighborhood is that we watch out for each other's kids. They love to run around and play in the cul-du-sac where the parents can keep an eye on them. I can't tell you the number of Nerf gun fights, water balloon battles and bike riding competitions I've seen from the study. Sometimes the kids are even organized enough to play a game of kickball.
